Archaeology 2: North Face

This shot shows an extension to the north face area. It goes past the northwest corner of the Hall. Behind the drystone wall the hall reaches down around four feet to a sandstone plinth. So at this corner one would expect the wall to descend down that far. The drain will be below there too.

There is stepping stone paving coming from the corner and this might continue further. Again, lots of iron in the form of a shackle, farm machinery fragments and a piece of a cast iron cooking range. 

We reached a pea gravel layer, which seems to be the latest courtyard surface.
