Email the Membership Secretary
Membership is open to any person, or corporate body, who has an interest in the life of John Rae and supports the aims and objectives of The John Rae Society
If you wish to join us, you must sign a written membership application. This can be returned to the Membership Secretary by post or e-mail.
For businesses, corporate bodies, unincorporated or voluntary associations, the application must be signed by an appropriate officer of that body nominating him/her for membership.
Once your application has been processed you will be allocated a Membership Number, which is non-transferable, and it would be very helpful if you could use it for all future communications with us.
Types of Membership
Membership can be paid on an Annual basis, starting on 1 April and ending on 31 March each year, or you can become a Life Member for a one-off payment.
Constitutionally Life Membership is available “at a sum of not less than ten times the equivalent amount of an annual membership in any given financial year.”
This applies to individuals, couples/partners (which we call “Joint”) and corporate bodies.
So our membership types are:
- Individual: Annual or Life Membership
- Joint: Annual or Life Membership
Membership subscriptions are determined by the members at each AGM and will fall due on the first day of the organisation’s next financial year.
Subscriptions for the financial year 1 April 2017 to 31 March 2018 are as follows:
|Annual Membership:||Life Membership: |
|Individuals £ 15.00|
Joint £ 20.00
Corporate £500.00 plus £50 per year
You can pay on-line via our shop which takes credit cards. This is useful if you are outside the UK as it avoids currency conversion charges for us. You can select which type of membership you require below or via send payment via PayPal to email@example.com . This will help us avoid excessive bank charges when dealing with non-Sterling transactions.
Register of Members
A Register of Members is kept by the Membership Secretary on behalf of the Board.
We would really appreciate if all UK members who are taxpayers would sign the Gift Aid declaration. This allows the Society to receive additional funding from HMRC at no cost to you. And you only have to sign the declaration once.
To minimise administration costs, we should be grateful if Annual Members signed the Standing Order Mandate on the membership form or pay by Paypal.
