Orkney’s renowned Arctic explorer, John Rae had his 210th birthday, marked by this graveside ceremony on Saturday 30th September. We all know how so unfairly he was treated for telling the truth in his confidential way. Maybe these 21 Decades since his birth at The Hall of Clestrain will initiate the international fame he so richly deserves. It is the role and duty of The John Rae Society to promote his reputation, along with restoring his birthplace, The Hall of Clestrain.”
