The other day we were approched by Michael Palin ( he of Monty Python and travel documentaries ) as he is currently working on a project about the boats that Franklin used. One of our Trustees, Norman Shearer who is also a tour guide offered to take him around on Mr Palin’s first visit to Orkney. Our guest wanted things to be kept low key for this visit hence we did not publisise things ealier. The visit went well and Michael Palin was very interested in the story of John Rae and the Hall of Clestrain, so it could be a case of ‘watch this space’ !
