New designs for the Hall ?

29 April 2020

We were cheered the other day to receive these paintings from the pupils in Class P1-4 at the North Walls Community school in Lyness.

Their Head Teacher – Shirley Stuart said “We thought you might like to see our drawings showing what the Hall of Clestrain might have looked like if the artist and architect, Friedensreich Hundertwasser ( for those of you who like me are not aware of his work here is a link ) , had been in charge of the renovations.”

In fact one of the consultants JRS has employed did suggest that the Hall may well have been painted when it was first built and the archaeologists will be looking for evidence of this, but we are sure that the colour scheme would not be quite like these ideas from the children! Enjoy!

Email from their head teacher :
“We hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed creating them!
