The John Rae whisky! Lyon and Turnbull 16th August 2023 lots 404 and 405

This is an amazing chance to bid for this exceedingly rare Highland Park Single Malt Whisky. Just thirty bottles of this 40% vol edition were ever produced. It commemorated the 200th anniversary of John Rae, the great Orcadian Arctic Explorer’s birth.

This year is his 210th birthday. 21 decades to come of age.

The reason why The John Rae Society is offering this for sale by Lyon and Turnbull is that to restore his family home, the 18th Century Hall of Clestrain, we need to build an access road to it, which we call, The Road To The Arctic. The cost of this road is £150k. We have been fundraising for some months now, and raised over £40k. To be fair to our generous funders, we felt that we should sell this asset as a contribution to the road.
